Ahead of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID Global) congress, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics has announced the expansion of its menu of DxI 9000 Immunoassay Analyzer assays.
Notably, Access anti-HCV, Access HBsAg, and Access HBsAg Confirmatory assays have recently obtained CE marks.
The addition of these assays is a crucial development in hepatitis detection. Hepatitis B and C viruses, marked by the presence of viral surface antigen (HBsAg) in serum or plasma, are common culprits behind liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and viral hepatitis-related deaths, affecting millions globally. Early diagnosis is paramount for timely treatment initiation and improved patient outcomes.
Beckman Coulter's latest offering aims to streamline the testing process, particularly for hepatitis B detection. With its validated HBsAg High Positive algorithm, the need for repeat and confirmatory testing is eliminated for samples ≥ 100.00 S/CO. This advancement, boasting a 96.9 percent accuracy rate in directly reporting positive results for initially reactive samples, ensures laboratories receive precise and efficient outcomes.
The DxI 9000 Analyzer, known for its technological prowess, including ZeroDaily Maintenance, PrecisionVision Technology, Lumi-Phos PRO, SimpleSolve Onboard Guide, and DxS IntelliServe, now hosts these new infectious disease assays. This integration further enhances confidence in accurate reporting and facilitates timely disease management.
Kathleen Orland, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Chemistry and Immunoassay at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, emphasized the significance of these advancements. "By launching these new hepatitis assays on our DxI 9000 Analyzer, we can deliver exceptional quality," she stated. "Our advanced technology allows for accurate and timely detection, empowering healthcare professionals to make informed decisions and ultimately contribute to a safer and healthier community," she added.
The debut of these assays is scheduled for the ESCMID Global 2024 congress in Barcelona, between April 27-30, 2024. They are currently available in countries accepting the CE mark.
