Five pharma employees among seven new COVID-19 positive cases in Karnataka

Five employees of a pharmaceutical company based in Nanjangud were among seven new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Karnataka in the last 48 hours. The five pharma employees were colleagues of P52, a 35-year-old male and resident of Mysuru working in quality assurance department of a well known national pharma company. He had tested positive on March 26 but had no travel history or contact history. However, he was in contact with many healthcare professionals.

While the pharma employees who tested positive have been admitted to K R Hospital in Mysuru, around thousand employees of the pharma company have been home quarantined as a precaution, said Abhiram G Sankar, deputy commissioner, Mysuru.

The details of the fresh five cases of the pharma company are aged 39, 38, 21, 31 and 42. These are patients numbers 77 to 81.

Patient number 82 is a 35-year-old male resident of Udupi with a travel history to Dubai and landed in Mangaluru on March 17.

Patient number 83 is a 29-year-old male also from Udupi had a history of travel to Thiruvananthapuram and has been isolated in a designated hospital in Udupi.

Out of the 83 cases detected and confirmed in Karnataka, so far, six are transit passengers of Kerala who have landed in airport, Bengaluru and Mangaluru.
