French drugmaker Sanofi is offloading a 50-year-old manufacturing plant that’s currently delivering all its medicines to the Japanese market.
The drugmaker has signed a deal to sell its manufacturing site in Kawagoe, Japan, close to Tokyo, to German CDMO Adragos Pharma, the buyer said. The companies didn't disclose financial terms.
The Kawagoe factory produces 73 products. All Sanofi products for the Japanese market are delivered from the location. Under a separate long-term supply agreement, Adragos will continue to manufacture products for Sanofi for five years and become a strategic partner for the Japanese market. The 200 employees at the site will stay on board under the Adragos flag.
