The second Research and Development Center is launched by the Boston Scientific Corporation in Pune. The major goal of this move is to make capital out of India’s expertise in R&D and to provide manifold opportunities for engineers and front-runners in the country.
This new space along with state-of-the-art amenities was inaugurated by Dr. Vinod K Paul, member (health), NITI Aayog, along with Art Butcher, Executive Vice President, and President, Boston Scientific APAC; Ralph Cardinal, Vice President R&D, Boston Scientific APAC; Sanjeev Pandya, Director R&D Boston Scientific India, and Manoj Madhavan, Managing Director, Boston Scientific India.
This second space of facility in regard to the R&D centre in Pune will be a working space for approximately 170 engineers. Occupying a large space of around 45,000 square feet, this centre is decked out with medical equipment and simulators to further open the door for the R&D process and build more R&D formulations in magnitude.
Speaking at the inauguration, Cardinal said, “Investing in R&D and clinical science is critical to the development of medical technologies and solutions that support patients around the world. Globally, Boston Scientific invests over $1 billion in R&D every year, and we are pleased to further include India with the opening of this second R&D centre in Pune.”
The new R&D centre will provide expertise to all the company’s therapy areas, namely interventional cardiology, peripheral interventions, cardiac rhythm management, endoscopy, neuromodulation, urology, and pelvic health. The R&D team in Pune will provide support in areas of mechanical design and analysis, software engineering, sustaining engineering, quality, and compliance.

It’s a key step in our journey as we address the needs of patients in India, the wider APAC region, and around the world through innovation in India.”
