SGD Pharma Launches Type I Tubular Vials with Corning's 'Velocity Vial' Coating Technology

SGD Pharma, a provider of pharmaceutical packaging solutions, has unveiled a new range of Type I tubular vials featuring the innovative 'Velocity Vial' coating technology from Corning. This breakthrough offering is designed to elevate product quality and enhance patient safety in the pharmaceutical industry.

The new range comprises high-quality Type I injectable vials crafted from tubular glass, now equipped with a low-friction coating that optimizes performance during the fill and finish process. Developed through a strategic partnership between SGD Pharma and Corning, this cutting-edge solution aims to boost pharmaceutical filling-line productivity while expediting the global delivery of injectable treatments.

Defective vials pose significant challenges to production lines, potentially leading to costly recalls and manufacturing disruptions. SGD Pharma's Velocity Vial offering mitigates these risks by reducing frictional resistance, thereby preventing common issues such as tip-overs, jams, and glass breakages along the filling lines.

By enhancing glass quality and minimizing disruptions, the new coating technology delivers tangible benefits, with the fill and finish process becoming 20-50 percent more efficient. Moreover, the risk of vial cracks and glass particle contamination is substantially reduced, with SGD Pharma reporting up to a 96 percent decrease in glass particulates.

This reduction in glass particulates not only enhances product quality and safety but also safeguards end-users from potential risks associated with contamination during fill and finish operations. SGD Pharma's Type I tubular glass vials, already compliant with stringent USP and EP requirements, are manufactured and released in accordance with ISO GMP standards, ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards.

Available in both clear and amber glass variants, the Velocity Vial coating technology is compatible with standard vial sizes ranging from 2R to 20R, with options for larger sizes available upon request. Furthermore, the technology meets the regulatory standards set forth by EU and US health authorities, underscoring its suitability for global pharmaceutical applications.

SGD Pharma's latest innovation marks a significant advancement in pharmaceutical packaging, promising heightened efficiency, enhanced safety, and improved product quality across the industry.
