Telo Genomics, a biotech company specializing in telomere-based oncology testing has announced a collaboration agreement with contract research organization Emery Pharma. 

This partnership aims to offer complementary cellular and molecular bioanalytical solutions for clinical research and development initiatives to their respective clients. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Telo Genomics' TeloView platform leverages the 3D features of telomeres as structural biomarkers of genomic instability at the single-cell level. This technology is applicable to precision medicine liquid biopsy, according to the firms.

Emery Pharma provides biologic drug development and analytical characterization services, including intact mass analysis, peptide mapping, glycan analysis, and analyses of host cell proteins, post-translational modifications, and immunogenicity, as well as general R&D and cGMP/GLP support.

The memorandum of understanding between Telo Genomics and Emery Pharma establishes a framework to validate the complementary utility of both platforms. "Aligning our platforms provides powerful capabilities with potential to address challenging biotechnology needs for pharma and diagnostics industries," Emery CEO Ron Najafi said in a statement.

Telo Genomics previously announced a collaboration with Mayo Clinic in 2019 related to clinical studies of telomere analytics as a prognostic tool for multiple myeloma. In 2021, the Toronto-based firm raised USD 1.7 million in a private placement. Additionally, Telo Genomics' laboratory in Toronto was accredited by the College of American Pathologists in April.
